Former Barcelona midfielder Thiago Alcantara, 33, is likely to return to Hansi Flick’s backroom staff in January.
Marca reported on Wednesday that Thiago Alcantara is likely to return to Barcelona and rejoin Hansi Flick’s backroom staff in January.
Flick had brought Thiago on as part of his coaching staff since pre-season and the 33-year-old former midfielder was only with the Blaugrana for the first few weeks of the season before returning to Liverpool to meet residency requirements for tax reasons, where he will remain until January.
According to reports in Spain, Thiago could return to Barcelona in January, but he will be working in a different role after Flick brought in Under-15s coach Arnau Blanco as his successor at the start of the season and has continued to work with the first-team.
Thiago’s time with Flick and the first team ยูฟ่าเบท proved beneficial for all parties involved. The club was both pleased and impressed by his knowledge. Additionally, the former midfielder also formed a special rapport with the players.
As such, the Blaugrana are eager to have him back at the club. As part of the support staff with the reunion likely to happen next month.
However, it is unclear what role he will play on Flick’s backroom staff if Thiago returns to the club.
